Ingredients
- 1 Small Cabbage (chopped into 1/2 inch pieces)
- 1 Small Green Chili (Serrano Pepper) (or dried red chili pepper)
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Urad Dahl (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Olive or Avocado oil
- 1 teaspoon Salt
Directions
Step 1 | |
Place frying pan on medium heat. Add the olive oil.
Step 2 | |
When oil is hot, add urad dahl. When urad dahl turns golden brown add cumin seeds. Stir fry with a flat spatula until cumin seeds change color. If you don't like chilies, go to Step 4.
Step 3 | |
Add the green or red chili pepper and stir fry for a minute or until chili looks slightly fried. If green chili, make a small slit in it before adding, so that it won't burst.
Step 4 | |
Add the chopped cabbage and salt. Sprinkle a tablespoon of water. Mix well. Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes or until cabbage is cooked but still firm and fresh. Don't let it dry up and get burnt.
Step 5 | |
If you must cover, cover partially so that the steam escapes. Don't let the cabbage get too limp and over-cooked.
Step 6 | |
Serve hot as a side dish with anything. |
