Easy Celery Rice
If you would like to get a recipe for an easy, simple, tasty, nutritious dish, this is one of them! Even the laziest person cannot give an excuse! It is aromatic because of the Basmati rice, celery and mild spices. It can be made mild for kids. It can be used for Lunch or Dinner. Really easy to make.

Easy Celery Rice
Ingredients
- 1 bunch Celery (Cut into 1 inch pieces)
- 1 cup Long Grain Basmatic Rice
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
- 2 tablespoons Cooking Oil (Olive Oil, Avocado Oil or any other)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 cup Cilantro (finely chopped)
Optional
- 1 Green Chilli (finely chopped)
Note
Options:
1) Instead of celery, you can use any similar green vegetable.
2) You can use any white rice, or brown rice if you prefer.
Directions

Cook the Basmati rice. See Recipe here. | |

Heat oil in medium sized non-stick pan on medium heat. | |
Step 3 | |
Add cumin seeds and fry for a minute with a flat spatula. Do not burn the cumin seeds. | |

Add celery pieces, 1/4 teaspoon salt and spices. If you prefer, add the chopped green chilli too. Mix well. (Celery does not absorb salt. Add salt to taste after the cooked rice has been mixed with the vegetable.) | |
Step 5 | |
Cook for 5 minutes or until celery is cooked but firm. Do not overcook. | |
Step 6 | |
Add the spices and cilantro. Mix well. | |
Step 7 | |
Add the cooked rice. Mix thoroughly. Do not mash the rice unless you like the dish mushy. | |
Step 8 | |
Serve hot with cold cucumber or tomato Raita and potato chips or Papad. |
